Hello from Four Seasons Fair Travel!
On July 4th, we had a truly meaningful day
with five amazing students from the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania. Together, we explored Seongsu-dong, one of Seoul’s
most creative and community-driven neighborhoods — not just as tourists, but as
curious minds eager to connect with local stories, people, and values.
Here’s a glimpse into our special day of fair
travel, social economy, and hands-on creativity!
🌱 Starting the Day at Seongdong Urban Center
Our journey began at the Seongdong Urban
Center for Mutual Growth, where we introduced the heart of what we do:
“Adding fun and value to local tourism.”
We believe travel should go beyond
sightseeing — it’s about experiencing stories, meeting people, and
discovering the soul of a neighborhood.
💡 What Is Social Economy? Learning Through Real Examples
Next, we visited the Seongdong Social
Economy Support Center, where students learned about Seongdong’s unique
role as a Social Economy Special Zone.
Through real-life examples of social
enterprises, cooperatives, and community-based businesses, we explored how
economies can be people- and planet-centered — not just profit-driven.
It was great to see the Wharton students
ask thoughtful questions and engage deeply with the concept.
We then headed to Seoul Forest, a
green urban oasis with a special backstory.
Did you know much of the park’s development involved citizen participation,
from bench adoptions to community-led design?
We took photos by blooming hydrangeas,
talked about the horse statue’s symbolism, and enjoyed the calm summer weather.
It was the perfect moment to reflect on how cities and citizens grow
together.
👜 Visiting a Local Social Enterprise – JERRYBAG
Our next stop was JERRYBAG, a
Seongsu-based brand making stylish, eco-friendly bags inspired by jerry cans.
The students heard directly from the team
about their mission — combining design, function, and social impact.
For those interested in social
entrepreneurship or innovation, this visit sparked real inspiration!
🎨 Ending with Creativity – Silk Screen Workshop at MINIPRINT
To wrap up the day, we visited MINIPRINT,
a cozy creative studio in Seongsu.
Everyone got hands-on with silk screen
printing, using a custom map of the day’s journey to make their own eco bag
or t-shirt.
Choosing ink colors, pressing the squeegee
— it was fun, creative, and a perfect way to turn memories into something
tangible. Each person left with their own one-of-a-kind souvenir.
💬 Why This Experience Meant So Much
This wasn’t just a tour — it was a learning
journey.
🌍 We
exchanged global perspectives on economy, sustainability, and innovation.
🧠 We
connected ideas with the people and places behind them.
🎁 And we
created something with our own hands to take home — a little reminder of the
values we shared.
